Why “Fit” Is Taking Over 3PL Conversations
From our webinar to IWLA, plus Kenvue’s ops playbook, FedEx’s same-day push, and Slotted’s new site launch.
Two weeks ago we hosted a webinar with friends from Third Person, Shipware, and Red Stag. The core message around FIT being a product, not a sum, seemed to land. The Italian restaurant comparison did too. If you missed it, the recording is worth a watch.
That carried into IWLA this past weekend where the topic of fit and the sales process in warehousing and fulfillment was central to many of the conversations we had.
It was my first time attending their flagship convention and I was impressed by the breadth and depth of operators in the room. Operations is a business of exception management and risk reduction. The ingenuity and adaptability across the warehousing and fulfillment industry is hard to miss.
What's trending
📦 Kenvue's "Shark Tank": A Playbook for Ops Innovation
Kenvue COO Meri Stevens shared at Manifest 2026 how the company runs monthly employee pitch sessions to drive operations innovation, deliberately built to avoid "pilot purgatory."
Winners get funded and deployed globally, with a focus on touchless processes and AI agents that free up staff.
Predictive maintenance tech has cut equipment downtime and reduced spare parts inventory across factory lines.
The model: test fast, kill fast, scale what works. Transferable to any 3PL or fulfillment operator chasing incremental gains.
📦 FedEx Goes Same-Day — And the Last-Mile Race Has a New Entrant
FedEx launched FedEx SameDay Local in partnership with OneRail, offering 2-hour and end-of-day delivery from nearby stores and distribution centers.
The service connects to a network of 1,000+ delivery providers and uses AI for order matching, routing, and proof of delivery. It's live with select large retailers and is expanding.
Retailers are becoming delivery nodes, and the infrastructure to support Same-Day is becoming more accessible.
📦 Warehousing demand expands beyond ecommerce
DHL is adding over 7 million square feet across North America to support data center and AI infrastructure builds, with other providers moving in the same direction.
This is not traditional ecommerce demand, but it will impact space availability and pricing.
Highlight: Slotted’s New Website Is Live
We launched the new Slotted website this week.
The biggest change is clarity. Clearer messaging, better explanation of who we are, and how we actually support both providers and brands.
The main takeaway: Slotted is not lead generation and matchmaking.
That’s something we’ve been saying for a while, and many customers already understood it. Now the site reflects it.
Slotted is built to help customers find the right fit.
What that looks like:
For Providers
A Sales OS built for 3PLs. Qualify your leads faster, understand their fit at a glance, and focus on closing the clients that actually belong with you. Regardless of how they entered the pipeline.
For Brands
A structured way to run a cleaner RFP, compare providers on what actually matters, and choose a partner that fits your business. No more consultative overhead and no more messy spreadsheets or needing an advance mathematics degree to figure out cost.
If you haven’t seen it yet, take a look: www.slotted.com
